Travelling by rail
The nearest train station is Kintbury. There are a few direct services from London Paddington to Kintbury, but you’ll probably need to change at Newbury (which is a 7 minute train ride away).
From Kintbury station, you can walk to the Centre in about half an hour. We also hope to run a shuttle minibus at various points to meet people from the train, or we can ask someone to drive down and collect you. Please let us know when you know you’ll be arriving and we’ll see what we can do.
There is currently a rail strike planned for Thursday, 18th and Saturday, 20th August. If it goes ahead, it will make travel by public transport quite difficult on the Saturday. However, it should be OK on the Friday and Sunday.
Minibus to and from Newbury
We’re hoping to have a shuttle mini-bus on the Saturday from Newbury and returning that evening at various times. It will also be able to stop en route. If you’re interested in it, please click here to register.
Driving
Sat nav often takes you to the wrong place/tries to take you down a gated road, so it’s best to head to the Blue Ball pub in Kintbury itself.
The Blue Ball, High St, Kintbury, Hungerford RG17 9TJ
Head to Kintbury. You’ll turn off the A4 onto Station Road. It will take you past Kintbury train station (which has a level crossing – at least if there is a train strike on the Saturday you won’t get stuck waiting for the train to go past…). Keep going straight on.
Kintbury has little streets, often with lots of cars parked, so do be careful!
You’ll go past ‘Kintbury Stores’ corner shop on your right, and then get to the Blue Ball pub also on your right hand side. Take the next left onto Wallingtons Road. It has a sign for the Centre and we’ll try to make it obvious.
You’re still a mile away from the Centre, up Wallingtons Road. Keep driving straight! When you get to what looks a bit like a fork in the road with a house on the left and the signs for St Cassian’s Centre to the right, head right.
When you get almost to the Centre, please follow the signs to the left so that you drive around to the back of the Centre where you’ll be able to park your car.
Parking is going to be tight, as there are a lot of people coming, so you may be directed to park your car as close to others as possible.
